Wolf range, oven, cooktop and hood repair in Los Angeles

An independent shop that works on Wolf cooking equipment and nothing else, across four neighbourhoods. Bring us the symptom — the ticking burner, the cold oven, the hood that moves air but not smoke — and we will tell you what it is before you spend anything on parts.

  • Wolf cooking equipment only — ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall and steam ovens, hoods
  • Four neighbourhoods, one tight route, so mornings usually get a slot that day
  • Diagnosis with a meter and a manometer, not by swapping parts

$89 flat service call — the visit and the diagnosis, credited against the repair

Stainless gas range with the oven door lowered, one burner cap lifted off the burner head, and a wrench on a folded towel resting on the door

Model families

Which Wolf is in your kitchen

The letters at the front of the model number say which family the equipment belongs to, and that decides which parts travel with us. On a range the rating plate is usually behind the lower kick panel or on the frame behind the door; on a built-in oven it is on the door frame.

Wolf model prefixes and the faults we are called out for on each
Prefix Family Called out for Repair page
DF Dual-fuel ranges — gas burners over an electric oven Oven dead while the cooktop still lights, drifting bake temperature, control lockouts after a power dip Range Repair
GR All-gas ranges, sealed burners and a gas oven Burner that ticks without catching, oven that will not hold, simmer that either roars or blows out Range Repair
SRT Sealed-burner rangetops — cooking surface only, cabinetry underneath Ignition on one bank, orange or sooty flame, griddle heating unevenly across the plate Cooktop Repair
CT Cooktops in gas, induction and electric Induction zone cutting out under load, an element stuck on full, touch glass gone dead on one side Cooktop Repair
SO / DO Built-in single and double wall ovens Convection fan quitting mid-bake, sagging door letting heat into the cabinet, one cavity out and the other fine Oven Repair
CSO Convection steam ovens Water fault with a full tank, scale in the steam circuit, a pump straining against a blocked intake Oven Repair
PW / VW Pro wall and wall-canopy hoods, and hood inserts Blower running while smoke still drifts, one speed only, buzzing or half-dead lighting, rattle at full Range Hood Repair
DD Downdraft ventilation rising behind the cooking surface Stuck part-way up, motor running with no pull at the grille, damper that never opens Range Hood Repair

Nameplate CFM Is Not What You Get: Title 24 Ducting and Make-Up Air in Los Angeles Kitchens

Title 24 Section 150.0(o) requires an installed range hood to be HVI- or AHAM-certified, ducted outdoors in smooth rigid metal and quiet enough at its required airflow, and HVI rates airflow at 0.1 inch water column. The number on the carton is not the number your duct will deliver.

Wolf oven set to 400 and baking cold: how to read the drift

A Wolf oven that bakes cold is usually out by a measurable amount for a reason you can narrow down before anyone opens it. How to measure the drift properly, the four faults that cause it, why a dial thermometer misleads, and the point at which testing stops being useful.

Questions we get on the phone

Answered straight

What does the $89 service call actually pay for?

The visit and the diagnosis — including pulling panels, metering components and testing gas pressure where it matters. It is credited in full against the repair if you go ahead, and you hear the price for the work before anything else is opened up.

Where do I find the model number on a Wolf range?

On a range or rangetop the rating plate is usually behind the lower kick panel, or on the frame behind the oven door. On a built-in oven it sits on the door frame, visible once the door is open. The letters at the front — DF, GR, SRT, CT, SO, DO, CSO — tell us which family it belongs to, and that decides which parts ride in the van.

A burner clicks and clicks but never lights. Part or setting?

Almost always a part. Continuous clicking after ignition points at a spark module or a switch stuck closed; clicking with no flame at all usually means the electrode is wet, cracked or eaten away, or the port is blocked. Neither is adjustable from the front panel — it needs the maintop off.

The oven shows an error code and will not start. Can it be reset?

Sometimes, and it is worth trying: kill power at the breaker for five minutes and bring it back. If the same code returns, it is reporting a real fault — usually a sensor out of range, a lock motor that has not reached its stop, or a scorched connection. Note the code before you clear it; it saves us diagnostic time.

Why do igniters fail faster in Mar Vista than in Encino?

Salt. Air off the ocean carries it a few miles inland, and it attacks spark electrodes, burner caps and blower housings from the outside in. Encino has the opposite problem — heat and fine dust choking cooling fans and control bays. Same brand, two different failure patterns, and we stock for both.

Do you work on ventilation as well as the cooking equipment?

Yes — wall hoods, inserts and downdrafts, including the blower, the speed control, the lighting and the duct run behind them. A hood that runs but does not clear the room is usually a duct or damper problem rather than a motor problem, and that distinction is most of the job.

Which part of Los Angeles do you cover?

Four neighbourhoods and no more: Encino, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista and Larchmont Village. Keeping the route tight is what stops a morning call turning into a window three days out.

Is it worth repairing a range that is twenty years old?

Often, yes. The mechanical side of this equipment — burner assemblies, valves, hinges, blower wheels — is rebuildable, and parts for older series are still made. What tips the balance the other way is a cracked cavity liner or a discontinued control board with no substitute. We will tell you which one you have before you spend anything past the service call.

What Los Angeles kitchens say

Wolf calls across Encino, Cheviot Hills, Mar Vista and Larchmont Village.

4.9/ 51,467 reviews

  • Induction zone kept cutting out under a full pot, always in the afternoon heat. The cooling fan was choked with grease and dust. Runs fine now, though he was slow to answer my follow-up.

    Kavya B. · Encino · July 2026

  • Igniters on the two ocean-side burners had corroded right through, which he says is normal this close to the water. He replaced both, cleared the ports, and showed me the green crust on the parts he took out. No upsell.

    Kanoa L. · Mar Vista · June 2026

  • Half the lights were dead and the rest flickered. Corroded sockets, not the transformer somebody else had blamed. He fitted new holders. Only gripe is he turned up at the end of the window.

What we repair

Four things, done properly

Wolf is cooking equipment, so that is the whole list: what heats, what lights and what pulls the air out. No refrigeration — that is a different brand and a different trade.

  1. Stainless gas range seen straight on between two runs of white cabinets, oven door open flat and one burner cap removed on the cooktop

    01

    Range Repair

Wolf dual-fuel and all-gas ranges — ignition, burner output, oven cavity heat and the control faults that follow a power dip.

    Calls that start like this

    • Burner ticks over and over on a cold morning but never catches
    • Cooktop lights normally while the oven underneath stays stone cold
    • Low setting will not hold a simmer, it either roars or blows out
    • Griddle or French top browns on one side and stays cool on the other

  2. Open oven cavity with the round perforated convection fan cover on the rear wall and the rack removed, cooktop grates above

    Oven Repair

Built-in Wolf wall ovens and steam ovens: temperature drift, convection failures, sagging door seals and control lockouts.

    Calls that start like this

    • Set to 400 and a roast comes out barely warm an hour later
    • Convection fan whines, then quits partway through a bake
    • Door hangs open a finger width and heat runs into the cabinets
    • Panel shows an error code and the oven refuses to start at all

Describe the symptom. We will tell you the cause.

A flat $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis and comes off the repair, and you hear the price for the work before it starts. The line is answered 24/7; visits run 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.

How a call runs

Three steps, no surprises in the middle

Nothing here is a promise about the outcome. It is simply the order things happen in, so you know what you are agreeing to when you pick up the phone.

  1. Cast-iron grates with the centre burner stripped to its electrode and brass orifice, oven door open and a rack resting part-way out

    The call, and three questions

What the equipment is doing, what the model number is, and what changed just before it started. Those three answers decide which parts are already in the van when we arrive, which is the difference between one visit and two. The line is answered around the clock; visits run 8 to 8, seven days.

  2. Screwdrivers, nut drivers, pliers and a wire brush laid out on canvas beside loose screws and two small stainless brackets

    Diagnosis, then a number

The maintop or the lower panel comes off and the fault gets found with a meter and a manometer rather than by swapping parts until something works. You get the price for the repair before it goes any further, and the $89 service call comes off it.

  3. Stainless range in the corner of a kitchen, oven door open on an empty cavity with the rear fan cover showing and the rack set down on the floor

    Fitted, run up, left clean

The part goes in, the equipment is run up and checked — flame quality on gas, a thermometer in the cavity on an oven, airflow at the grille on a hood — and the kitchen goes back the way it was. If something looks like the next thing to fail, you hear about it rather than finding out in six months.
